Surviving vs. Thriving this Holiday Season

We are covering many topics at the meetings and the discussions are powerful.

How’s your holiday season coming along? Well, if you are just surviving it and kind of dreading it, please go to the Beginning Today Facebook page and watch the video on THRIVING through the holiday. This is the time of the year when we need to be reminded to slow down, smell the poinsettias and prioritize our must do lists.

Take care of yourself… You are only one person and if that one person gets overwhelmed, look out! If you feel you are just drowning with details, can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel or just too exhausted to take another step, I suggest you sit down, put your feet flat on the floor, lean back, relax the shoulders, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. You know the drill… inhale through your nose for a count of four, hold for a count of seven and exhale though your mouth for a count of eight. Do this four times at least twice a day (yes in bed or at stop lights, count).

Then make a list, decide what can go and give yourself permission to just let go so you have time and room to do the things you enjoy. Planning on a trip to the relatives you would prefer not to go to? I encourage you to take a nice long bath with candles the night before and settle your mind thinking positive thoughts and repeat the night you get back home. Let go of what didn’t go well and focus only on the positive.

This year, don’t just survive the holidays, thrive all season long!
