This has been a week of recovery. Due to some minor surgery I have not been able to keep up my regular fitness routine and due to the extreme cold weather we are experiencing in Minnesota I have oddly enough decided to act on “bear-like” tendencies taking on extra calories and cuddling up in a fetal position on the couch laying idle as time goes by. Have you been where I am?
The sudden realization of how I just walked out of my life and “settled” in is “unsettling” to me. What is it about tossing in the towel when one thing is not working correctly? Sure I could be walking at a slow and gentle pace on my treadmill and sure I could be eating right and sure I could even sit up straight and read, you know working that brain of mine. It is time to coach myself, take my own advice and move back into a place I want to be part of again.
How to get started?
Step 1: upon waking up I will give thanks; Step 2: I will start my morning with some stretching; Step 3: I will have a healthy breakfast and continue to be mindful of my choices. Step 4: I will walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes at a reasonable pace increasing each day as I heal; Step 5: I will shower and eat right, snacking only on fruits, vegetables and high fiber foods; Step 6: I will plan my meals and routine for the next day before I go to bed; and Step 7: I will breathe deep, say evening prayers and be thankful for the successful day.
